Fresh as a Daisy

I am busy getting ready for Fibrefest which is September 13 and 14.   I will be participating as part of Go Figure with my friend Edwina Sutherland.

I was planning on making some pin dolls but they weren’t working out as I had hoped, so I started playing around with Photoshop  and ended up doing another fused applique.  It was supposed to be simple and quick and it was until I decided that it needed some hand embroidery.

Fibre Fling 2 and Sea Horse Pattern

One of the things I have been busy with these past few months was creating a pattern (and instructions) for my sea horse.

It is now up on Doll Street Dreamers in the Pattern Shop.  Thanks to Edwina for persuading me to do this and to Margo for testing the pattern and instructions.

This past week I’ve been preparing  for Out of the Box‘s upcoming show “Fibre Fling 2”.  It’s not till April but I have to hand in my pieces on Monday.  Today I packed 6 dolls in a box, tying them in place with seam binding.

Concrete and Glass

Last weekend I participated in a Christmas Craft Show and Sale at the Fisher Park Community Recreation Centre  in Ottawa.  I have participated in this show for several years and this was the best one yet. One of the participating artisans was featured on TV just before the event and that brought out lots of new customers to the event.

Two of my friends also participated in the event. Neither of them has a website as yet so I thought I would show some of their work.

Elise Muir of Lady Bird Concrete Products makes bowls, planters,  bird baths and leaf-shaped stepping stones.  Elise is a member of the Ottawa Artisans Guild.

What’s Growing in your Garden?

Last weekend I visited Kiwi Gardens in Perth, just outside Ottawa.   It was their 16th annual show and sale of garden art.   About 38 artists displayed their work  throughout the gardens.  Although there were many wonderful works of art, I am going to share some of the picture I took of the work of just three of the artists.

Artist by Design ‘s Liz Ciesluk does sculptures using  recycled objects and pavepol, a fabric hardener.

Stanley Lake  &  Almut Ellinghaus of the Ruiter Brook Pottery in Quebec’s Eastern Townships showed their Fountains and Garden Sculpture.
